Are you Bending Spoons?
By · October 26, 2008The Matrix, a box office hit in 1999, is still intriguing people of all ages. The famous line in the movie “there is no spoon” is becoming more significant and has a new meaning now more than ever. Perhaps you have not seen the Matrix recently, so here is a quick review about the famous movie line referring to bending spoons……
Morpheus teaches Neo that, once one is aware that the Matrix is a computer simulation, one can begin to manipulate it. Morpheus, Trinity, and others in the “Resistance” have developed this ability, which is why Trinity could dodge bullets, run up walls, and jump impossible distances — her vanishing into thin air, of course, was simply the result of her virtual self being removed from the Matrix.
After his initial training, Neo is taken to the “Oracle,” an old lady who seems to be able to see the future. While waiting to see her, Neo is left in a room with a group of children, who appear to be adepts doing impossible things. One is reading a book in Chinese. One young boy, who is dressed and groomed rather like Mahâtmâ Gandhi, is calmly sitting, in a Lotus position, making spoons bend through telekenesis. The extraordinary thing about the world of The Matrix is that we have no difficulty understanding how this is possible. Paranormal abilities are no longer miraculous when we know that they are just computer simulations. But Neo, living in this world, of course, has a little more difficulty grasping exactly how to do it. So the boy explains with perhaps the most important line of the movie, “There is no spoon.”
This is what the boy says: Neo can make the spoon bend by bending himself. But this opens up a prospect: Could everything that Neo learns about the Matrix actually be true of our very own “real” world? The movie, therefore, need not be just a science fiction story about human slavery to sentient machines, but an allegory of human slavery to the illusory world of birth, death, and suffering. The Matrix can assist us today with a reminder about learning to ‘bend spoons’. In other words, this concept is pointing to the fact that there is another way possible (i.e. like bending spoons) that you might not have considered when dealing with personal challenges and world changes. Perhaps you might consider that you have been living in a Science Fiction movie rather than in the real world. Perhaps you just awakened to realize that your world was all an illusion! If you are one of the people suffering from mortgage challenges due to a declining real estate market, an investor in the stock market with crashing net worths, a business owner or executive who is having trouble producing results, chances are that you have been living in an illusion. Let’s just say that this is the case — after all it is your Science Fiction movie and you get to create the script!
What was your illusion? Did you believe in something, that before today, you would have bet your bottom dollar (oops! hope not!) was the way of the future? Did you believe in something that turned out to be a lie? Are you still holding on to the ‘reality’ or the way it used to be, wishing that it will return back to normal soon?
Time to consider that to bend the spoon, personal change is required…..beliefs have to change, the past has to be let go of, give up that there will be a return to normalcy and understand that just like NEO, once you become aware of THE MATRIX, then you are on a new journey…. there is no going back.
Now the game is to understand that there is no spoon and there are no reasons why not. Give up your excuses and all of your stories of the way it is supposed to be. What there is now, is to learn the new language of energy and use your awakened ability to bend spoons in your behalf and for the good of the world. Remember that the world of birth, death and suffering is an illusion, just as in the movie. We are on a continuum, a circle, a spiral of spiritual evolution — now is all that matters.
Some examples that you can implement into your life today that will bend spoons include:
- Appreciation and Gratitude — share your appreciation and gratitude with those that you love.
- Open your heart and be compassionate — share your love and above all remember to be compassionate with others.
- Give of yourself in service and bring honor to the gifts that you have received – stretch out your hand in offer to another — you honor them and honor the blessings that you have received by doing so.
- Eliminate excuses — eliminate your excuses for why not; forget stories that limit you from having success in your goals; be passionate about all that you are involved with or get involved with something you are passionate about.
- Train yourself in the new language of energy — if you went to live in another country, you would learn the language being spoken there, yes? Well, here is your new world and it involves learning the new language now being spoken.
- End your suffering -– reap the rewards of reaching for the energy; suffering used to be optional and now…….it is not even a word in the new language!
- Forgiveness and forget — forgive yourself and others — that’s it! Forget that you ever held a grudge or that anyone has ever done anything to you.
